The Rights To Ricky Sanchez: The Sixers (76ers) Podcast

The Ben Simmons fit/trade debate raged on the internet this week, we took a measured, honest look at the fit, the future, and the present with Simmons. We discuss Jonah Bolden’s future as a small ball five surrounded by shooters, the win over the Jazz, bring back the Jorge Gutierrez Recommendation corner to give you some movies and music to check out, get a touching letter in the Lorenzo Brown mailbag, and check in on our Bold Predictions and give some Sixers New Year’s resolutions with AU.

Spike promised that when the Rights To Ricky Sanchez hit 2000 ratings on Apple Podcasts, he'd read all of the reviews from the 1,000 mark until the 2,000 mark. Here it is. It's terrible. It's also brought to you by Kinetic Skateboarding.

The Sixers lost (again) to the Celtics, this time with the entire country watching on Christmas. We give our takeaways from the game about Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler and the rest of the roster, the decision to run a dribble handoff to JJ Redick as the final play, how they can make better use of the personnel they have, and the personnel they need. Finally, we go through some interesting Process related Christmas gifts we saw, including Sixers legos, a Fly The Process IV trip, and a Sam Hinkie blanket.

2018 was another weird year for all of us, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We go through the biggest things that happened in Sixers and Ricky land throughout the year, and what they feel like in retrospect. Of course we discuss Embiid's All-Star appearance, last year’s playoffs, Burnergate, the Butler trade, Fultz, the confetti game, the Elton Brand hire, and much, much, much more. For even more on the year in Sixers, check out AU’s top 100 moments of 2018. We also debut a new song about the podcast from Philly band Hurry.

After weeks, months, of being the guy who looks at the bright side of life, Mike was finally broken by the game against the Spurs, a game he shouldn’t have watched. We discuss the Sixers inability to solve the Embiid double teams on post-ups, the thin roster, if any potential trade targets can help, and if they can fix it for this year. We also discuss what their plan should be during free agency, and this week’s appearance on House Hunters International.

The Sixers have the least depth of any Eastern Conference contedender. We discuss what the biggest culprits are for them being in this position, if they can remedy it this year, and if it’s worth fixing this year. We talk about the team’s late game offense when Joel Embiid has the ball, some hilarious quotes from a Jimmy Butler interview in GQ, Dave Silver’s latest lie, the sad Markelle Fultz story in the Washington Post, and a brand new Jigsaw.
